Looking into Medical Education in Newcastle

This summer, from 11-13 July 2018, NewcastleGateshead will be the host destination for the 2018 Annual Scientific Meeting of the Association for the Study of Medical Education (ASME).

Taking place at the Sage Gateshead on the NewcastleGateshead Quayside from 11-13 July 2018, the meeting will attract more than 600 national and international medical professional delegates. The theme of the event is medical education with a global perspective, allowing delegates to attend keynote plenary speeches from influential speakers including Professors Phil Cotton, David Sklar, Deborah Helitzer and Susan van Schalkwyk, as well as networking, attending workshops, presenting their oral and poster abstracts to the medical education and research community, and attending social events.

The destination was an obvious choice for the ASME as NewcastleGateshead has a track-record of hosting high-profile medical conferences as well as having one of the country’s leading medical universities at Newcastle University, which is an ASME institutional member. Mairi Macleod, Events Officer at ASME, said: “NewcastleGateshead is the perfect destination to host the Annual Scientific Meeting next July – it’s easy to reach for commuters from the North and South of the UK, plus the event is known for its social and networking vibe, which combined with the energy and warmth of the people of Newcastle will make for a fantastic all-round experience for anyone attending the event.”
