Read All about It in Athens

The Athens Convention and Visitors Bureau (ACVB) of the City of Athens has recently announced the organisation of the 85th International Conference on Libraries and Information which will be held in August 2019. For the IIFLA bid, the Committee of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions took into account the opening of a new national library building and Athens’ designation as 2018 World Book Capital.

Various local partners supported the bidding process, including the National Library of Greece and the Association of Greek Librarians & Information Scientists, in order to promote the destination. Recently, Athens has climbed several places and currently finds itself within the 25 most popular destinations on the world map of conference tourism, which showcases the great potential of the Greek capital as a MICE destination.
