BestCities Global Alliance Explores the Future

The BestCities Global Forum 2019 will be taking place between 8 and 11 December at the Copenhagen Marriott Hotel. During the event the Copenhagen Convention Bureau and BestCities Global Alliance are launching an initiative to explore the future of congresses in partnership with the Danish Design Centre and futurists from Public Futures. Participating associations will receive cutting edge insights and a tangible tool to use in the formation of future strategies for their associations. After the Global Forum, the tool can be accessed digitally by everyone interested.

The Alliance has also launched the Inspiring Young Leaders program, and has recognized two associations who have proven to encourage actively youth engagement preceding their congresses. The first two organisations to be awarded the Inspiring Young Leaders grant are the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISUOG) and the International Society for Microbial Ecology (ISME).

ISUOG will use their award to organise its ‘Young Investigators’ event at their congress in Berlin in October 2019. The event plans to offer young researchers and leading senior research leaders in similar fields the opportunity to network, learn and plan the future. ISME will finance African students, PhD’s and PostDocs  to attend ISME’s 18th symposium, taking place in Cape Town in 2020.
