The Luxembourg Government and the City of Luxembourg recently set up the Luxembourg Convention Bureau as a strategic player to develop the business events sector in Luxembourg. Building upon Luxembourg’s economic and scientific strengths, the national convention bureau plays a crucial role in securing business events for the entire destination with an emphasis on associations from its key economic and research sectors.
Luxembourg’s economy is driven by its key innovative economic sectors such as automobility, ICT, space, cleantech, life sciences, etc. Bringing global industry leaders to engage with local professional communities is fostering business and research links that drive faster growth of industries, which in turn supports greater overall economic development. Strategic partnerships with key actors like Luxinnovation, the national innovation agency or the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) will highlight the local expertise of the scientific and research field while creating new opportunities and collaborative networks.
François Lafont, CEO of Business Events Luxembourg underlines: “Our main goals are to enter the top 50 of the business events destinations worldwide and to double the number of international congresses. Its quality of being one out of three capitals of the European Union, its excellent connectivity, its location in the heart of Europe and its innovative economic sectors will definitely secure Luxembourg on the agenda for international congress organizers.”
