The World Expo 2020 will take place in Dubai, making that the first time it will be held in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia region. Open to the public on 20 October 2020 until 10 April 2021, the Expo is expected to attract millions of visitors, with over 200 participants and more than 30,000 volunteers from a wide range of ages, nationalities, cultures and backgrounds.
Themed “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future” and branching into three sub-themes of Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability, Expo 2020 shares common goals of diffusing knowledge and innovation with Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF). For this reason, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by the two parties on the first day of Knowledge Summit 2017 in Dubai.
The MoU aims to integrate the contents, programmes, and initiatives of Expo 2020 into the UAE’s long-term ambition of establishing the country as a regional hub for knowledge, education and research.
