Luxembourg’s Business Events Sector Takes Off

The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg is committed to developing the country’s economy with the help of the meetings industry. In order to achieve this, Business Events Luxembourg was created at the end of 2018 by the Ministry of the Economy of the Grand Duchy and the City of Luxembourg. Business Events Luxembourg is the official convention bureau and representative for the entire destination – they will be present at IBTM in Barcelona on stand F80 from 19 to 21 November.

Luxembourg’s government has defined key sectors for economic growth such as automobility, ICT, space, cleantech, and life sciences, etc, and it will strive to attract scientific and business meetings that are aligned with these strengths. Being one of the three capitals of the European Union, Luxembourg is also a location for high-level governmental meetings.

“Luxembourg has a new ambition, which is to double the number of international conferences by 2024,” says François Lafont, CEO of Business Events Luxembourg. “And the country has all the right features to achieve this, including scientific and R&D institutions, a certain drive for innovation, and the host of new technologies. What is even more important is that we have reliable partners in order for the country to be on the meetings map like never before.”

Business Events Luxembourg signed a memorandum of understanding so that hotels, venues, service providers, event agencies, and transport companies – all the key partners that association planners need – work hand in hand to make any event a success. “We are here to connect the right people outside Luxembourg to the right people inside the country,” Lafont says. “Actually, this is our mission – uniting people shaping the future.”

The new international team of Business Events Luxembourg, together with its six partners Chateau d’Urspelt, DMC by Sales-Lentz, European Convention Center Luxembourg, Luxembourg for Tourism GIE, Luxexpo The Box, and Voyages Emile Weber, will soon be at IBTM World. So why not discover a great destination and new partners for your future association event? Plan a meeting with us or just drop by at booth F80 – they will be there from 19 to 21 November to answer any queries you might have.
