Continuing its educational online sessions, PlanetIMEX included the Association Leadership Forum, created by ASAE. The event revolved around valuable lessons learned by associations during these difficult times and challenges overcome. The main point was the flexibility and adaptability association leaders need to show in order to meet their members’ and staff needs.
More particularly, Richard Yep, CEO of the American Counselling Association, addressed the topic of Unprecedented Leadership during unprecedented times, pointing out that leaders need to be more accommodating and understanding of people’s specific personal challenges. Vicki Deal-Williams, Chief Staff Officer for Multi-Cultural Affairs, American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, addressed the important topic of ensuring organisational alignment in terms of diversity, equity and inclusion by highlighting that strategies must be evaluated to make sure they always have the right impact.
Jeff Shields, President & CEO, National Business Officers Association, talked about Governance in a virtual environment and spoke about board members and their elevated role of focusing on strategic governance. Lastly, Jeffrey Tenenbaum, Managing Partner, of Tenenbaum Law Group PLLC, shared his experience of legal issues currently being faced by association leaders due to the pandemic.
