Australia’s Northern Territory has shown its support for the business events industry and the importance of incorporating the cultural aspect in them. During the Asia Pacific Incentives Meetings Event (AIME) in Melbourne, an exclusive NT lunch was staged for selected hosted buyers in The Atrium within The Exchange area on the AIME show floor, providing a taste of the Territory, from a culinary and cultural perspective.
Andrew Hopper, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the NT Government’s Department of Tourism, Sport and Culture spoke briefly about the new NT branding, “Different in every sense for business events”. He also highlighted recent enhancements to the Northern Territory Business Events Fund, which, in support of Business Events Australia’s ‘Event here this year’ campaign, has seen the financial incentive doubled to $200 per delegate. This offer is for funding applications received by 31 May 2020, for events staged in the NT by 30 June 2021. After May, the per delegate amount will revert to the original $100 per delegate.
Rebecca McCaig, Director of Northern Territory Business Events spoke about the NT event at AIME 2020 and how it was designed to showcase the NT’s unique cultural aspects which can enhance business events. “We designed the AIME function this year so that our guests could see how this engagement can be achieved, encompassing all the senses including taste, visual and sound. We believe that the inclusion of such experiences at a business event hosted in the NT unquestionably enhances impact and positive outcomes.”
