The International Association of Convention Centres (AIPC) has launched its prestigious educational programme, the AIPC Academy, in Africa for the first time.
Held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) from 19 to 23 August 2024, the event brought together 25 participants from various sectors of convention centre management.
This five-day bootcamp covered critical areas such as finance, operations, and sustainability through lectures, workshops, and team-building activities.
The Academy’s African debut is a key part of AIPC’s strategy to engage with emerging markets. “Africa is clearly the continent of the future,” said Abigail Thulare, CEO of the Robben Island Museum.
Industry leaders like Julianne Jammers and Sandy Kennedy provided insights on leadership, AI, and sustainability, fostering significant professional growth among participants.
The success of this event has set the stage for a second edition in August 2025, with the CTICC once again hosting.
