Strengthening its position as a distinctive and competitive destination for the business events industry, Azerbaijan has come back in full swing.

An Eastern country with a Western outlook, Azerbaijan has an exceptional combination of antiquity and novelty with many sites of interest. The country has a rich history dating back five millennia and a culture that has evolved as travellers passed along the Great Silk Road. As such, it is well used to welcoming guests and boasts deep traditions of hospitality and multiculturalism.

Azerbaijan is easily accessible with direct flights from Europe and Middle East with ASAN visa system that offers added convenience with a quick and simple e-visa process as well as visa on arrival for a number of countries.

Azerbaijan and its capital Baku are increasingly attracting the attention of European and international associations, as the bid win to host the prestigious 74th International Astronautical Congress in 2023 shows.

Themed ‘Global Challenges and Opportunities: Give a Chance to Space’, the conference to be held in Baku will make significant contributions to the establishment of closer ties with foreign space agencies, companies and organizations, to the development of human capital. It it set to attract over 6,000 representatives of the space industry for the first time in the region.

The event will take place at the Baku Convention Center, the largest convention venue in the Caucasus, which was conceived to complement the Heydar Aliyev Center next door. Boasting a 3,500-person plenary hall, it can easily be turned into a suitable space for every kind of happening, from science conventions, business events, and concerts to team meetings, cocktail parties and gala dinners.

“Azerbaijan is ready to host large-scale business events with high-level services and exciting experiences,” said Florian Sengstschmid, Chief Executive Officer of Azerbaijan Tourism Board.“The country is also a perfect destination to combine business and leisure with its UNESCO Heritage Sites, delicious local cuisine, amazing nature, wonderful hospitality and experiences developed preserving all these aspects of the country.”

Currently, citizens and permanent residents of 101 countries can travel to Azerbaijan by air, provided that those aged over 18 submit a COVID passport (an official document issued by the relevant country on complete vaccination or recovery from COVID-19).
