13th December 2024

Exhibition World Bahrain (EWB), in collaboration with the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), hosted a landmark event on 10 December 2024, bringing international association leaders to Bahrain for the first time.

The gathering served as a vital platform to connect global convention organisers with Bahrain’s stakeholders across sectors such as business events, healthcare, and tourism.

The event showcased Bahrain’s potential as a world-class destination for international meetings, highlighting the critical role of local associations in securing and supporting major events.

It featured technical tours to key facilities like Aluminium Bahrain (ALBA), Bahrain International Circuit, and top healthcare institutions, as well as cultural experiences to spotlight Bahrain’s heritage and tourism appeal.

Sara Ahmed Buhiji, CEO of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), described the event as a milestone for the Kingdom’s meetings sector, aligning with its Tourism Strategy (2022-2026) to position Bahrain as a global hub for business tourism. “By hosting prestigious events like this, we provide invaluable opportunities for local stakeholders to engage with international leaders, laying the foundation for future collaborations,” she stated.

ICCA’s Regional Director for the Middle East, Anju Gomes, said: “This gathering showcases Bahrain’s commitment to creating vibrant, future-ready destinations and fostering global collaboration.”
