Copenhagen has been selected to host the 2025 Annual Congress of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS), marking the city’s second time hosting the prestigious event.
Expected to draw up to 15,000 professionals in ophthalmology, the congress will be held at the Bella Center, Copenhagen’s largest conference venue, in September 2025.
The announcement was made during the 2023 ESCRS Congress in Barcelona. ESCRS President Filomena Ribeiro expressed excitement about returning to Copenhagen, noting the city’s alignment with the society’s goals of sustainability and innovation in ophthalmology.
“We look forward to welcoming our members to this vibrant city and continuing our mission to advance the field of cataract and refractive surgery,” said Ribeiro.
“ESCRS is well aligned with Copenhagen’s DNA because of its strong focus on fostering a culture of sustainability and social responsibility to minimise the environmental impact of its events and the industry it represents,” said Bettina Reventlow-Mourier, Deputy Director of Conventions at Wonderful Copenhagen.
