2nd December 2025

The Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) has announced that Phase 1 of the Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC) expansion is nearing completion and on track to welcome global mega events from early 2026, including Gulfood Global and the newly rebranded World Health Expo.

Located in Expo City Dubai, the expanded DEC will deliver 140,000 sqm of event space – 64,000 sqm of new permanent halls and 30,000 sqm of flexible pavilions – accommodating up to 50,000 visitors per day. A seamless connection to the Expo 2020 Metro Station and citywide transport infrastructure ensures accessibility at scale.

“The expansion of Dubai Exhibition Centre represents Dubai’s proven capability to deliver large-scale international events with precision, excellence, and impact,” said Mahir Julfar, Executive Vice President at DWTC.

A robust mobility and readiness plan has been developed in partnership with the Roads & Transport Authority and Dubai Police, featuring enhanced metro frequency, shuttle services between DWTC and DEC, and onsite visitor transport across Expo City.

“This development reinforces Dubai’s position as one of the world’s most connected, secure, and future-ready destinations for major international events,” added Amer Al Farsi, DWTC’s Vice President of Real Estate Development.

On completion of future phases, DEC is set to become the region’s largest purpose-built indoor venue by 2031 solidifying Dubai’s role as a global hub for association meetings and business events.
