Melbourne is gearing up to host the World Congress of Gastroenterology (WCOG) 2025, attracting some of the world’s experts in gastroenterology and hepatology.
Set for 20-22 September at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC), the event will welcome 3,000 delegates.
The successful bid, led by the Melbourne Convention Bureau (MCB) and the Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA), with support from the Victorian Government and Tourism Australia, secured Melbourne as the host city. .
Melbourne Convention Bureau (MCB) CEO Julia Swanson highlighted Melbourne’s strong reputation in medical research as a key factor in the city’s selection. “This event will be a vital platform for collaboration and innovation in gastroenterology and hepatology,” she said.
GESA will also integrate its renowned annual event, Australian Gastroenterology Week (AGW), into the Congress, which typically draws 1,700 participants and will provide valuable opportunities for both local and international collaboration.
