Rimini Secures Milestone Event for Sports Science and Biomechanics

27th February 2025

The Palacongressi di Rimini has been selected as the venue for the 45th International Society of Biomechanics in Sports (ISBS) conference, set to take place from 23 to 27 June 2027.

The winning bid, led by Professor Laura Bragonzoni from the University of Bologna (Unibo) and supported by Italian Exhibition Group (IEG), strengthens Rimini’s position as a hub for international sports science events.

This latest addition enhances IEG’s growing portfolio of sports-related congresses, joining the European College of Sport Science (July 2025) and the European Sport Management Conference (September 2027).

Factors such as Rimini’s Wellness Valley, the annual RiminiWellness event, and the city’s outdoor fitness infrastructure played a decisive role in securing the event.

Professor Bragonzoni highlighted the congress’s significance, stating: “ISBS 2027 will be a global platform for research and innovation in biomechanics applied to sports, attracting over 400 experts to exchange knowledge on performance enhancement, injury prevention, and training optimisation. The insights gained will also benefit everyday fitness and public health.”

Fabio De Santis, IEG’s Event & Conference Director, said: “From advanced motion analysis tools to wearable devices and simulation software, ISBS will spotlight the latest innovations shaping sports science. The accompanying exhibition will bring together top industry players presenting their latest developments.”
