Sissi Lignou, CEO of AFEA Congress in Athens, Greece, has been officially announced as the new President of the International Association of Professional Congress Organisers (IAPCO) during its Annual Conference and General Assembly, held in Taipei, Taiwan, from 21–23 February 2025.
Having served as President-Elect since 2024, Lignou will now lead IAPCO for the next two years, steering the association’s strategic direction, upholding its governance framework, and championing the global meetings industry.
“I am deeply honoured and grateful to take on this pivotal role, continuing to serve our association with dedication,” Lignou stated.
Martin Boyle, CEO of IAPCO, welcomed her appointment, highlighting her long-standing contributions and leadership. Outgoing President Sarah Markey-Hamm, now Immediate Past President and Chair of IAPCO’s Committee of Ethics, praised Lignou’s impact on the association, particularly in advocacy.
Lignou’s presidency marks a new chapter for IAPCO, reinforcing its mission to elevate global professional congress organisation standards and drive industry progress.
