Taiwan Implements Sustainability Policies

2nd May 2023

MEET TAIWAN has been commissioned to implement its Sustainable MICE, Taking Strides Towards Net Zero project in 2023.

With a goal to achieve net zero emissions by 2050, as well as the 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs), the project is divided into three segments: evaluation and guidance, speaking out and taking action, and encouragement and honor.

In the first phase, business events companies get tailored resources to reduce carbon emissions and receive ISO certifications; in the second, Taiwan promotes its international image with actions such as the 100 x 100 campaign (that called on 100 stakeholders to carry out 100 sustainable business events actions) and the Taiwan MICE Sustainability White Paper (carbon reduction results of Taiwan’s meetings industry); and the third segment recognises Taiwan’s companies for their efforts and contributions to sustainable events through an SDGs Action Award and a Carbon Reduction Action Award.

The Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), under the Bureau of Foreign Trade, are committed to guiding Taiwanese companies towards a more sustainable future contributing to Taiwan’s sustainable international image.
