Te Pae Christchurch Marks Four Years of International Event Delivery

7th May 2026

Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre is celebrating four years since welcoming its first conference, having hosted more than 865 national and international conferences, exhibitions and cultural events.

Since opening, the venue has welcomed over 422,000 visitors, strengthening Ōtautahi Christchurch’s profile as a rising international business events destination. Its growth reflects the city’s wider transformation, with organisers increasingly drawn to Christchurch’s compact centre, walkability, accommodation and dining options, and the setting of the Ōtākaro Avon River precinct.

Te Pae Christchurch credits much of its success to Manaaki o Te Pae, its approach to hospitality, which combines professional delivery with a strong sense of place and care for delegates, clients and partners.

Sustainability has also shaped the venue’s first four years, with credentials including Toitū Net Carbon Zero, EnviroMark Gold and Qualmark Gold, alongside ISO 9001, ISO 22000 and AIPC Quality Standards Gold certification. The centre was also named Oceania’s Leading Meetings & Conference Centre at the World Travel Awards 2025.

“In just four years, Te Pae Christchurch has established itself among the world’s leading convention centres, delivering events that are operationally excellent and sustainably led,” said Ross Steele, General Manager of Te Pae Christchurch. “We’re proud of the role Te Pae Christchurch has played in showcasing our city as a confident, connected and welcoming destination on the international stage.”
