Antwerp is welcoming hundreds of marine industry leaders and technical specialists for the International Marine Contractors Association Global Summit on 28 and 29 October.
Held at A Room with a ZOO, IMCA’s flagship event will examine how the offshore sector can improve safety, develop its workforce and respond to technological and environmental change. The association will also unveil its strategy for 2030.
The agenda concentrates on:
- artificial intelligence and remote operations;
- offshore wind, decarbonisation and security;
- skills and workforce development.
Cave diver Chris Jewell, who participated in the 2018 Tham Luang rescue in Thailand, will contribute lessons on resilience, teamwork and decision-making under pressure.
Home to the Port of Antwerp-Bruges and a strong maritime and industrial ecosystem, Antwerp offers a relevant setting for discussions on marine operations and the energy transition.
Veerle Peeters, Interim Director of Antwerp Convention Bureau, said international meetings create their greatest value when connected to local expertise. “IMCA’s Global Summit is a great example of how a global industry can come together in a city that understands its challenges,” she said.
The programme also introduces delegates to Antwerp through the city’s architecture and venues, including Antwerp ZOO and Grand Café Horta.
