Berlin Launches New Impact Programme for Events with Purpose

19th May 2025

At this year’s IMEX Frankfurt, the Berlin Convention Office of visitBerlin is unveiling the “Berlin Impact Programme”, a consultancy-driven framework that empowers organisers to embed social and environmental value into their meetings and congresses.

Launched as part of the Sustainable Meetings Berlin platform, the programme offers support and access to a curated network of local stakeholders.

From hands-on social initiatives like volunteer days and charity actions, to enduring collaborations with educational and health institutions, the Berlin Impact Programme promises strategic relevance and measurable outcomes for events hosted in the German capital.

“Our mission is to support planners in creating events that are both impactful and aligned with Berlin’s community needs,” explains Marco Oelschlegel, Head of the Berlin Convention Office. “This is about deepening the societal footprint of the MICE industry in Berlin.”

The initiative complements Berlin’s broader sustainability push, which is also spotlighted at IMEX through flagship projects such as the Estrel Tower – a climate-smart high-rise set to transform the city’s skyline – and the EUREF Campus, a pioneering site for innovation that has already exceeded Germany’s 2045 climate targets.

Visitors to IMEX can explore these themes in Hall 8, Stand F010, where Berlin will be represented alongside 18 partners.

Highlights include presentations on sustainable event formats and a preview of BESTIVAL 2025, a business festival taking place in Berlin this July, with key focuses on innovation, sustainability, and community.
