Better Stands Framework Goes Global Under NZCE with IFES Support

24th June 2025

The Better Stands initiative, originally developed by Informa, has officially been opened to the global business events industry, empowering associations, venues, organisers, and service providers worldwide to transition from single-use to reusable exhibition stands.

Unveiled during the UFI European Events Week in Thessaloniki, Better Stands is now hosted by Net Zero Carbon Events (NZCE) and supported by the International Federation of Exhibition & Event Services (IFES).

Its expansion signals a critical step toward reducing the sector’s environmental footprint through a consistent and practical classification system.

With more than 50,000 stands assessed and 400 events trialling the programme across 37 countries, the framework enables stand contractors and exhibitors to achieve Bronze, Silver or Gold status based on reusability and recyclability.

Pre-certification or on-site assessment options make it accessible and scalable, regardless of event size or geography.

For associations, the initiative presents a strategic opportunity to align their own congresses and trade shows with global sustainability standards, while also demonstrating leadership on climate-conscious practices within their sectors.
