Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre Marks 20 Years of Milestones and Future Ambition

20th June 2025

The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre has celebrated its 20th anniversary with a festive gathering of clients, partners, and stakeholders, under the apt theme “Celebrating the Past 20. Shaping the Next 20.”

Hosted on 12 June, the evening paid tribute to two decades of excellence in global events and community engagement.

Led by General Manager John Burke, who underscored the Centre’s sharpened focus on agility and sustainability, the celebration highlighted innovations such as event space redesigns and a commitment to green energy and local sourcing—70% of F&B produce is now Malaysian-grown, with all food waste composted.

Since opening in 2005, the venue has hosted more than 22,000 events, welcomed 29 million delegates, and injected RM12.6 billion into the national economy.

It remains Malaysia’s only venue to have hosted three ASEAN Summits, including the recent 46th edition in May.

The evening also spotlighted KLCC Connects, a strategic initiative aligning sustainability and social partnerships across sectors, including collaboration with Urbanice Malaysia.

Acknowledgements were extended to Convex Malaysia Sdn Bhd, KLCC (Holdings), precinct collaborators in the KLCCBEA, and institutional allies such as MyCEB, MACEOS, ICCA, and UFI, whose collective efforts continue to strengthen Malaysia’s position in international business events.
