Copenhagen Launches Enhanced Sustainability Guide for Greener Events

6th June 2025

Copenhagen Convention Bureau has released the third edition of its Sustainability Guide, reinforcing the Danish capital’s leadership in responsible business events.

The updated tool builds on the city’s long-standing commitment to sustainable tourism and supports Wonderful Copenhagen’s ‘Copenhagen, All Inclusive’ strategy.

Originally launched in 2019 and based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the guide now features improved usability, a stronger focus on transparency and post-event reporting, and introduces Beyond Value Chain Mitigation (BVCM) to help organisers support climate-positive initiatives like reforestation.

The tool covers six planning categories – now including BVCM – and offers clearer CO₂ calculations, new post-event emission metrics, and benchmarking options. Advice on legacy, social impact, and responsibility is also available online.

“We continuously refine our tools to support planners in making more conscious, strategic choices,” said Kit Lykketoft, Convention Director at Copenhagen CVB.

The guide is freely available online, along with expert advice from the convention bureau to help event professionals create more sustainable meetings in Copenhagen.
