The Association of British Professional Conference Organisers (ABPCO) is preparing for the 2024 ABPCO Excellence Awards, set to take place on Friday, 13 December, at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool.
The event celebrates innovation, resilience, and excellence across a diverse range of categories, highlighting the extraordinary contributions of professionals within the sector.
Heather Lishman, Association Director of ABPCO, said: “These awards are not just a competition but a spotlight on the significant, positive impact our professional colleagues are making across the globe.”
The awards cover a broad spectrum of achievements, including categories such as Best Sustainable Conference, Legacy and Impact Award, and Best International Conference with Boardroom as a sponsor for this category.
Submissions were open to virtual, live, and hybrid events that took place between 1 August 2023 and 31 July 2024.
Winners will be announced during a luncheon ceremony featuring a pre-lunch reception sponsored by Harrogate Convention Centre.
The event will also showcase ABPCO’s broader mission under its new strapline, ‘Connecting Event Professionals’. As Heather noted, ABPCO remains a “warm, friendly, supportive, knowledgeable, professional, and accessible association”.
She added: “Our Member Value Proposition, #MYABPCO, is broad yet adaptable, offering members the ability to define their own value within the community. It celebrates the diversity of our membership while reinforcing the shared sense of belonging and professional kinship that defines our ‘my tribe’ ethos.”
For past winners like David Parker of the Royal College of Physicians, the awards have been transformative: “Winning an ABPCO Excellence Award has enhanced our team’s credibility, opened new doors, and attracted opportunities that have significantly elevated our profile.”
