Global Orthopaedic Leaders to Gather in Cairns

The 24th Congress of the Asia Pacific Orthopaedic Association (APOA) will take place at the Cairns Convention Centre from 9–12 April 2025, drawing over 1,500 orthopaedic leaders from around the world.

Themed “Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, and Augmented Reality,” the Congress will spotlight cutting-edge innovations shaping the future of orthopaedic care.

The scientific programme will feature symposia, instructional lectures, interactive discussions, and masterclasses led by globally renowned experts.

APOA President Jamal Ashraf highlighted Cairns as a prime location, talking about its proximity to the Great Barrier Reef, World Heritage Rainforest, and vibrant local culture. “Cairns offers an unforgettable combination of world-class science and extraordinary travel experiences.”

The event, supported by Business Events Cairns & Great Barrier Reef and Cairns Regional Council, is expected to generate $6.6 million in economic value, with additional tourism spend as delegates explore the region.

Cairns Convention Centre General Manager Janet Hamilton said: “Our venue, equipped with advanced hi-tech facilities, combined with Cairns’ unique natural beauty and the region’s ties with the medical community, provides an exceptional environment in which to nurture innovation and collaboration in healthcare.”
