The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre has been awarded the Prime Minister’s Hibiscus Award for Exceptional Achievement in Environmental Performance, the highest environmental honour in Malaysia.
Recognised as a national benchmark for sustainability, the award highlights the Centre’s leadership in responsible, high-volume venue management. Its initiatives, ranging from renewable energy use to full organic waste composting, demonstrate that measurable climate action is possible at scale.
“Winning the Prime Minister’s Hibiscus Award is a powerful affirmation of our long-term commitment to sustainability,”said John Burke, General Manager. “It proves that large, high-impact venues like ours can operate responsibly, transparently and at scale.”
This milestone follows the Centre’s Net Zero Carbon Events Pledge and its detailed Net Zero pathway launched in 2023. The presence of Datuk Mohd Salem Kailany, Group CEO of KLCC Holdings, at the ceremony showed strategic alignment across the wider KLCC precinct.
The award reinforces the Centre’s role as a catalyst for change within the global meetings and events industry.
