Kuching has secured the hosting rights for the 15th World Congress and Exhibition on Design and Health (WCDH), set to take place from 29 September to 2 October 2026.
Themed “Shaping Future Health Society: Designing for Healthy Lifestyle Behaviour, Equity and Sustainability,” WCDH 2026 is co-organised by Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) and the International Academy for Design and Health.
Key governmental collaborators, including the Padawan Municipal Council, Kota Samarahan Municipal Council, and Kuching South City Council, are lending their support to the initiative.
Over 1,000 delegates from across the globe are expected to converge in Kuching to discuss and exchange knowledge on urban designs that prioritise health and well-being.
These discussions aim to inspire and facilitate the development of environments that encourage healthy lifestyle behaviours while promoting equity and sustainability.
Speaking on the significance of the congress, Deputy Premier and Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government Sarawak, The Hon. Datuk Amar Prof. Dr Sim Kui Hian, said: “This objective resonates with Sarawak’s ambitions to advance health-focused events that foster sustainable environments and economic development under the WHO Healthy City initiatives and our Post-Covid Development Strategy 2030.”
