From Congress Content to Community Benefit
Ahead of the European Academy of Paediatric Dentistry Congress, Liverpool Experience Campus helped deliver Little Smiles for Everyone, a sensory-friendly oral health education event at Liverpool Central Library. More than 270 children, parents and carers attended, with a particular focus on making oral health advice accessible for children with special educational needs and disabilities.
The initiative connected international paediatric dentistry expertise with local partners including the University of Liverpool School of Dentistry, Alder Hey Children’s Charity, Liverpool City Council, the British Society of Paediatric Dentistry, Liverpool FC Foundation and Everton in the Community. Activities included toothbrushing demonstrations, healthy eating games, storytelling and a “Dentist for the Day” experience designed to reduce anxiety around dental visits.
A Structured Legacy Framework
For Liverpool Experience Campus, the project reflects a broader strategy. Rather than treating impact as an event add-on, the team works with organisers from the moment a conference is secured, identifying where delegate expertise can support Liverpool City Region priorities.
Through its network of Legacy Champions across health, education, innovation, sustainability and community sectors, the campus connects visiting associations with the people and organisations able to turn ideas into practical action.
Adrian Evans, Director of Sales – Conference & Business Events at Liverpool Experience Campus, said: “Successful event legacy is not simply activities that happen around the event itself, but partnerships and programmes that are intentionally designed to leave a positive and lasting impact on the city region.”
He added that Little Smiles for Everyone showed how the European Academy of Paediatric Dentistry’s expertise could be aligned with local partners to address a real community need.
The EAPD Congress demonstrates how international knowledge exchange can be translated into local value. By linking global expertise with community priorities, Liverpool Experience Campus helped create benefits beyond the congress itself, strengthening partnerships, supporting families and showing how legacy can become a measurable part of event delivery.
