The Luxembourg Convention Bureau has announced that the European Society for Vascular Surgery (ESVS) will hold its Annual Meeting in Luxembourg from 19 to 22 September 2028, marking a milestone for the country’s growing reputation as a hub for high-level medical congresses.

Expected to attract 1,500 international specialists, the event will spotlight the nation’s research and healthcare excellence.

The successful bid was led by the Luxembourg Society for Vascular Surgery, with support from the Convention Bureau.

“Each year, the ESVS Annual Meeting serves as a vital platform for advancing knowledge and showcasing innovation in vascular medicine,” said Dr Dirk Grotemeyer, President of the Luxembourg Society for Vascular Surgery. “Bringing this conference to Luxembourg has been a long journey, from the initial idea in 2018 to the successful bid for 2028.”

Madina Lapeyre, Programme Manager at ESVS, highlighted the society’s excitement: “We look forward to collaborating with our Luxembourg partners to deliver an outstanding scientific programme that advances vascular education and patient care across Europe.”

Maurice Bauer, President of the Luxembourg Convention Bureau, noted the alignment with national priorities: “Hosting ESVS 2028 will reinforce Luxembourg’s position as a centre for biomedical innovation, supported by institutions such as the Luxembourg Institute of Health and the University of Luxembourg.”
