MEET TAIWAN Festival Unveils Taiwan’s Meetings Industry

15th September 2023

The MEET TAIWAN Festival Global Launch Event, hosted by the Bureau of Foreign Trade and executed by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), took place on September 7, 2023, for a month aimed at showcasing Taiwan’s robust business event industry.

This year, the Festival (under the theme MEET TAIWAN Open Arms) was attended by a hundred prominent figures from Taiwan’s business event sector, reaffirming the industry’s resilience and adaptability.

Simon Wang, President & CEO of TAITRA, said: “The MEET TAIWAN Festival celebrates business events according to business event DNA. The DNA concept contains four components: international, interaction, knowledge and future—each respectively represents inviting international business events to Taiwan, facilitating interaction between domestic and global industry players, knowledge sharing at the Asian MICE Forum, and collaborating with industry stakeholders to promote Taiwan business event industry abroad and to strive for future business opportunities.”

The catchy theme song “MEET TAIWAN Open Arms” was launched alongside the mascot, PaQ. Derived from the Taiwanese word for “open,” it promotes sustainability by accumulating a unit of the Sustainable Fund for every embrace it receives.

Taiwan’s business event industry infrastructure boasts venues like the Kaohsiung Exhibition Center, equipped with a cutting-edge 5G network, the International Convention Center Tainan, renowned for its cultural richness and sustainability practices, and the upcoming Taoyuan Convention and Exhibition Center, set for completion next year.

Furthermore, Taiwan is keen on enhancing software support. The Expo-Tech Program, acknowledged with an Industry Partners Award by the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI) in 2023, exemplifies the harmonious blend of technology and business events in Taiwan.
