Washington, DC to Host Major International Congresses in 2025

3rd June 2025

Following a strong showing at IMEX Frankfurt 2025, Washington, DC is set to welcome several high-profile international association meetings that will reinforce its position as a leading global hub for impactful events.

Among the key congresses is the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) 2025 Congress, taking place in June. With over 2,100 abstracts submitted and delegates expected from more than 100 countries, it represents a major moment for the scientific community.

“This event reflects an extraordinary level of scientific enthusiasm and international collaboration,” said Lisa Astorga, ISTH Director of Meetings. “Washington, DC provides the perfect stage for meaningful dialogue and cutting-edge discoveries.”

The city will also host the International Association of Young Lawyers Congress and the International Society for Pharmacoepidemiology Annual Meeting in August. Together, these events are projected to generate over $20 million in economic impact.

This strong outlook follows a record-setting 2024, in which Washington led all U.S. cities for ICCA-qualified international association meetings.

According to Destination DC’s president and CEO, Elliott L. Ferguson, II, “Now is the time to meet in DC to take advantage of its unrivalled resources and showcase the nation’s capital as the world’s ultimate host city.”
