Ottawa Tourism Launches Food Recovery Program

23rd August 2024

Ottawa Tourism has partnered with La Tablée des Chefs to launch a food recovery initiative aimed at reducing waste and tackling food insecurity in the community.

This marks the first collaboration of its kind between La Tablée des Chefs and a destination marketing organization (DMO) in Canada.

The program is designed to equip event venues in Ottawa, particularly those hosting large-scale events and international conferences, with the necessary tools to donate surplus food to local organisations. La Tablée des Chefs will work closely with these venues to ensure a safe, sustainable, and efficient food recovery process.

Michael Crockatt, President and CEO of Ottawa Tourism, said: “This partnership is a vital step in our efforts to foster a more resilient and sustainable tourism industry. By joining forces with La Tablée des Chefs, we aim to make a meaningful impact on both environmental and social fronts.”

Jean-François Archambault, Founder and CEO of La Tablée des Chefs, praised Ottawa Tourism’s leadership, saying, “Ottawa Tourism is setting a precedent as the first DMO to collaborate directly with us. Together, we can transform food waste into a positive force for the community.”
