When information is available everywhere, the value of a business event can no longer be measured simply by how much content it delivers. That question shaped the 2026 Asian MICE Forum, held in Taipei under the theme “Tomorrow is Here, Future is Now.”
Now in its 21st edition, the forum brought international event professionals and cross-sector experts together to explore how physical gatherings can build trust, evoke emotion and create connections that continue after delegates leave.
Architect Ole Scheeren opened the programme by examining how space and human-centred design influence interaction. Later discussions considered whether event organisers are placing too much emphasis on information and too little on participation, belonging and memory.
Speakers from C2 Montréal and SXSW shared approaches using sensory design, co-creation and technology to transform attendees from passive recipients into active participants. Across the sessions, a common argument emerged: while AI can produce and distribute content, it cannot reproduce the trust, emotion and multisensory experience of meeting face to face.
The forum also applied its thinking to its own delivery. Reduced use of disposable materials, more reusable resources, shorter travel distances and adjusted catering arrangements were estimated to avoid approximately 414 kgCO₂e, cutting emissions by around 38% against the assessed scenario.
Organised by Taiwan’s International Trade Administration and implemented by TAITRA, AMF has welcomed more than 8,000 MICE professionals since its launch in 2006.
