AC Forum, the association representing international association executives, has officially signed the Net Zero Carbon Events (NZCE) Pledge, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability at its Annual Meeting.
The event was held at the Scottish Event Campus (SEC) in Glasgow, where the NZCE initiative was originally launched during COP26.
AC Forum represents a diverse network of international associations that extend beyond the traditional business events sector. The signing of the pledge is a strategic move to inspire its members to integrate sustainability into their operations.
“The commitment of AC Forum to the Net Zero Carbon Events Pledge is a significant advancement for our industry. Their leadership sets a powerful example, encouraging associations worldwide to integrate sustainable practices into their event planning and execution.” Joint Meetings Industry Council (JMIC) Executive Director Alexander Alles said.
Ben Hainsworth, President of AC Forum, highlighted that the commitment offers “a clear roadmap for action” and signals the Forum’s dedication to playing an active role in the global sustainability movement.
James Rees, President of JMIC, which leads the NZCE initiative, welcomed the move: “Having AC Forum sign the Net Zero Carbon Events Pledge underscores the campaign’s growing influence beyond the immediate business events industry. We believe this will pave the way for further association members to engage and champion sustainability within their own communities.”
