Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland will showcase its cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence (AI) research by hosting the 31st International Conference of Neural Information Processing (ICONIP) from 2-6 December at Auckland University of Technology (AUT).
The event will attract over 300 experts in AI, data analytics, and computational modelling, marking its return to New Zealand for the first time since 2008.
Head of Tech and Innovation at Tātaki Auckland Unlimited, Marissa Brindley, says: “As New Zealand’s economic centre and tech powerhouse, Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland stands at the forefront of innovation and growth. Hosting ICONIP is a testament to our region’s prowess in this sector and contributes to Auckland being recognised as a globally competitive tech hub.”
Led by Maryam Doborjeh from AUT and Professor Michael Witbrock from the University of Auckland, with support from Associate Professor Mufti Mahmud of Nottingham Trent University, ICONIP will feature technical sessions, tutorials, workshops, and keynote discussions by top researchers and professionals.
Hosting ICONIP will foster innovation and research collaboration both locally and internationally, encouraging stakeholders to explore new ideas and pursue research opportunities.
The event was secured with support from the Auckland Convention Bureau (ACB) and Tourism New Zealand’s Conference Assistance Programme.
