Excel London has hosted the first of 10 international congresses scheduled for 2026, setting a venue record and underlining the impact of its new 25,000sqm expansion in attracting major events to the capital.
The milestone was marked by the 41st European Association of Urology Congress, held last month and returning to London for the first time since 2017. The four-day event became the first major medical congress staged in the expanded venue and welcomed 12,366 delegates from 132 countries.
Across the year, the 10 congresses are expected to bring around 80,000 delegates to London and generate £250 million for the city’s business economy. Upcoming events include the FTTH Conference, INTA 2026 Annual Meeting, EULAR 2026, ESHRE 2026 Annual Meeting and ESCRS 2026.
Alongside hosting EAU, Excel also supported the association’s awareness initiatives, including its Urge to Act campaign, which highlights the needs of people living with incontinence.
James Rees, Executive Director of Excel London, said the expansion was “designed with delegate experience at its heart” and described London as “a magnet for landmark European conferences”. Marije Koops, EAU Congress Manager, said the venue’s new facilities provided “a compact and easy to reach setting” and praised Excel’s support for the association’s initiatives.
