In a cozy atmosphere at the residence of the Swiss Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium, Geneva showcased how sustainability and legacy are a top priority for the city.
Organized by the Ambassador, his Excellency Philippe Brandt, the Geneva Convention Bureau, the Geneva Sustainability Centre and supported by the Switzerland Convention and Incentive Bureau (SCIB) and the European Society of Association Executives (ESAE), the evening event welcomed association executives from the healthcare sector (and beyond).
Sonia Roschnik, Executive Director of the International Hospital Federation’s Geneva Sustainability Centre, explained the Centre’s purpose to drive net zero, climate resilient and sustainable healthcare for all.
In her words, “we cannot talk about human health without considering the health of the planet. Environmental sustainability efforts cannot be disassociated from social sustainability, access and equity.”
In fact, the healthcare sector is more damaging to the planet than aviation and shipping combined.
In a lively conversation with the participants, the speaker explored how industry leaders can strategically develop and implement vision and goals to address the challenges of climate change and sustainability.
Alain Pittet, Director of the Geneva Convention Bureau, confirmed that “the bureau’s top priority is to work together with associations to create solutions for a sustainable conference which will have a long-lasting impact both for the association and the destination.”
