Have You Read The New Book?

31st January 2023

MindMeeting & Partners are striking again with the publication of their new book titled “Meetings, by Default or by Design”.

Almost ten years after the publication of their first book “Into the Heart of Meetings”, the authors (Mike van der Vijver and Eric de Groot) felt this post pandemic period was the right time for a new discussion.

Focusing on forty different topics around meetings and events, the new publication offers improvement suggestions on meeting objectives, keeping the interest alive challenges, recurring obstacles and more.

The authors’ belief is that face-to-face meetings will require clearer objectives and well-designed programmes to live up to their specific strengths in a new balance with hybrid and online, objectives which are perceived differently in different parts of the world.

In an attempt to prove this theory on a worldwide scale, a “World Tour” of small-scale book launches will take place during the first half of 2023, exploring the added value of face-to-face meetings with groups of participants from different countries.

As Martin Sirk (the book’s crash-tester) puts it: “Designing a “good meeting” isn’t rocket science, but it does require a comprehensive toolkit of proven techniques and new ways of thinking about purpose and outcomes, context and environment, behaviour and beliefs. Put simply, it requires the insights and innovations that can be found throughout “Meetings, by Default or by Design”!”

The findings of the World Tour will be presented at the IMEX trade show in Frankfurt in May 2023 and during other events later on.

“Meetings, by Default or by Design” is already available for purchase online.
