The 2024 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA) will take place from May 13th – 17th , 2024 at PACIFICO Yokohama.
Since the 1970s, Japan has been at the forefront of robotics technology. Seven out of the 10 world leading industrial robotics companies are housed here. Japan has the highest density of robot workers in the world and remains the testing ground for new applications of robotics. As a result of Covid-19, there is even now increased demand for robotics from service industries such as logistics and medical firms, overtaking factory automation equipment.
The International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA) is held annually by the IEEE Robotics & Automation Society (RAS) and is the world’s most comprehensive large-scale international congress in the field.
The Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), in collaboration with the Yokohama Convention & Visitors Bureau, played an important part in this successful bid. JNTO’s MICE Ambassador Professor Zhidong Wang of the Chiba Institute of Technology fronted Japan’s invitation to IEEE RAS. IEEE ICRA 2024 will be a hybrid conference with an anticipated 25,000 participants (5,000 in-person including some 4,000 from overseas) and 20,000 online, drawing on Yokohama’s expertise in holding hybrid conferences.
