‘She Means Business’ @IMEX Highlights Equality

15th March 2023

Part of this year’s IMEX Frankfurt program (just like the last few years) will be the ‘She Means Business’ discussions. Taking place throughout the three days of the show, 23 – 25 May, this year’s main focus will be diversity, gender equality and female empowerment so that women are represented in the higher ranks of leadership.

Under the general topic She Means Businessa conversation for all, the sessions invite women and men from across the global events sector to share their views, experiences and current diversity and gender equality challenges. The conversation will move along the lines of future skillsets, building connections and mentoring practices that best support women’s career development.

A practical guide on the role of women in helping to achieve net zero by 2050 will be delivered in the first session themed Road to net zero:Women as change makers. Other interesting topics include The Metaverse – a man’s world? (discussing why this environment appeals to women in particular) and Ladies’ choice: Women seek conversation with men about diversity and gender equality (which brings together a panel of women and men to discuss what individuals and organisations can accomplish by working collectively).

Carina Bauer, CEO of the IMEX Group, says: “The industry is 70% women-powered, but only 20% women-led, meaning that clearly more work around equality of opportunity is needed. The events industry needs to collaborate and engage in open dialogue to ensure opportunities for everyone regardless of gender.”
