The Scottish Event Campus (SEC) in Glasgow hosted the IEEE CleanTech Summit 2025 last week, launching a milestone series of IEEE conferences set to take place at the venue through 2027.
The inaugural CleanTech Summit convened international leaders in engineering, science, and technology to address critical sustainability challenges — from renewable energy integration and smart grid innovation to energy storage and industrial decarbonisation.
“At IEEE we represent a global community and it’s essential we meet where they are — Glasgow is one of those places,”said Marie Hunter, Managing Director of Conferences, Events and Experiences at IEEE. “The SEC brings much more than logistics – it’s a partner that understands our values and what we aim to accomplish.”
The partnership extends beyond last week’s event, with the SEC confirmed to host three further IEEE conferences over the next two years, including the high-profile IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC) — attracting more than 3,000 delegates annually.
“We are delighted to welcome the IEEE CleanTech Summit to the SEC,” said Kathleen Warden, Director of Conference Sales at the SEC. “The conference aligns perfectly with Glasgow’s strengths in sustainability and renewables, reflected in the city’s number five position in the Global Destination Sustainability (GDS) Index for 2025.”
Glasgow’s relationship with IEEE spans over three decades, with more than 50 conferences hosted to date. “It’s a partnership rooted in innovation,” added Aileen Crawford, Head of Tourism and Conventions at Glasgow Convention Bureau. “So much so that we even created a bespoke IEEE Glasgow tartan to celebrate this global ‘clan’ of engineers and visionaries.”
