When thinking about Catalonia in Spain and association events, Barcelona comes immediately to mind. The Catalunya Convention Bureau, however, decided to show the world what the rest of the region has to offer to event planners.
During IBTM World earlier this month in Barcelona, the Catalunya Convention Bureau held a press conference to present the results of their B2B influencer marketing campaign, designed as a new all-digital innovative campaign to promote its second-tier cities. A lively video was shot portraying, among other things, unique venues, and hotels in Stiges, Tarragona, Girona, Lloret de Mar and the region of Baix Llobregat. This influencer campaign, which follows the footstep of MICE influencer and event tech expert Sina Bünte, brings Catalonia back in the mind of business partners, as Sonia Serracarbassa, director of Catalunya Convention Bureau, encourages: “Let’s go for reactivation.”

Meeting facilities apart, these videos aim at demonstrating the region’s tech scene, one of the most important in the country. A growing ICT industry, its digital infrastructures, talent and university and research centers, all contribute to the fact that Catalunya can combine this strong sector with business events.
International airports at Girona and Reus add to the region’s good connectivity. Meeting planners of the region are ready to assist incoming associations. The convention bureau brings together all local stakeholders, both private and public, to create valuable connections. The community is also involved since the impact of such events is vital to their cities.
