Melbourne Offers More Than A Conference Center

5th November 2020

Despite the heavy measures conference centres have had to endure during the pandemic, Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) has managed to find innovative ways to put its premises to good use. Peter King, Chief Executive of MCEC, said: “We can play an important role in the state’s economic recovery by using our spaces in new ways, both to bring jobs back to the city and support the wider community.”

On top of new virtual event studios and technologies for hybrid and online events installed, the centre will use its space and technology to serve as a film studio for the production of a major Hollywood film called Blacklight, starring Liam Neeson, bringing more than 500 local jobs for cast and crew back to the local film sector.

Moreover, MCEC is also providing Guide Dogs Victoria a safe, contained space and free-of-charge space to train Guide Dogs. In this way, the centre is also giving back to the community.
