Sarawak has been selected as the host destination for the 24th Asian Congress on Occupational Health (ACOH), to be held at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching from 5 to 8 August 2026.
The congress, which takes place every three years, is anticipated to welcome 2,000 global experts in occupational safety and health.
Themed “Navigating Global Cross-Cultural Perspectives on Occupational Health: Shaping the Future for Sustainability”, ACOH 2026 will explore how diverse cultural contexts can inform more sustainable occupational health practices.
The winning bid was led by the Academy of Occupational and Environmental Medicine Malaysia (AOEMM), in partnership with the Asian Association of Occupational and Environmental Health (AAOEH), with strong support from Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak) and the Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB).
The Honourable Datuk Amar Professor Dr Sim Kui Hian, Deputy Premier of Sarawak, emphasised the congress’s alignment with Sarawak’s Post-Covid-19 Development Strategy, stating that “occupational health is vital to supporting sustainable economic growth across emerging industries.”
The economic impact of ACOH 2026 is projected at MYR 16.4 million, supporting over 1,300 jobs. Amelia Roziman, CEO of BESarawak, highlighted the event’s long-term value: “We aim to build a legacy that strengthens Sarawak’s health resilience and benefits local communities well beyond the congress.”
