Seoul’s ‘Meetings Presence’ Stays Strong

14th December 2020

As people had to stay put in their homes due to the pandemic, Seoul Convention Bureau (SCB) took the initiative of bringing the destination to the people. The PLUS SEOUL program adapted and enriched its support for business events and the Virtual Seoul platform came into play, already used for various successful events like UIA’s first virtual round table.

This new platform offers everything from e-conference, virtual tour and live discussion to gamification, cultural activities and promotional booth. The aim is to maintain close partnership with the local meetings industry and at the same time market the destination internationally.

Actions of collaboration by the SCB, such as consultations on various situations to Seoul MICE Alliance (SMA) members and other local private sector, distribution of PPE materials, such as facial masks and hand sanitizers and managing digital marketing activities of the industry, led the destination to winning the Best Marketing Award – Special Edition 2020 during the ICCA Congress 2020. In fact, the destination was also one of six HUB CITIES of the Congress.
