For the first time, Malaysia will host the prestigious World Veterinary Poultry Association Congress (WVPAC), with Kuching named as the inaugural host city for its 23rd edition.
Taking place from 6–10 October 2025 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), the congress will gather over 1,500 delegates from more than 50 countries under the theme “Sustainable Healthy Poultry for a Healthier World.”
Nineteen internationally recognised speakers will headline the programme, alongside an exhibition showcasing the latest innovations in poultry health and production.
The event will address critical industry challenges such as disease control, food safety, sustainability, and animal welfare, positioning Sarawak as a hub for global scientific exchange.
“Sarawak is determined to become more self-reliant and competitive in food supply, while promoting sustainable poultry farming practices,” said The Hon. Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Anak Utom, Minister for Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Sarawak. “WVPAC 2025 is expected to generate over RM9.8 million in total economic impact, but its true legacy will be the exchange of ideas and partnerships that build a resilient food system for future generations.”
Amelia Roziman, CEO of Business Events Sarawak, added: “Food security and sustainable agriculture align with BESarawak’s mission to drive legacies from business events that benefit society and future generations.”
Prof Dr Abdul Rahman Omar, President of WVPA Malaysia and Organising Chairman of WVPAC 2025, concluded: “It is truly an achievement to win the bid and position Sarawak as a global scientific hub, particularly for food security and veterinary science.”
The congress is organised by WVPA Malaysia with support from the Ministry of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Sarawak, Department of Veterinary Services Sarawak, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Business Events Sarawak, and Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB).
