Brisbane has secured the International Conference and Exhibition on Liquefied Natural Gas 2029, bringing the world’s largest LNG event to the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre from 17 to 20 April 2029.
The event is expected to attract more than 4,200 energy leaders, innovators and policymakers from over 80 countries.
LNG2029 will be hosted by the Australian Gas Industry Trust and Australian Energy Producers, with the Queensland bid supported by BCEC, Tourism and Events Queensland, Brisbane Economic Development Agency and Tourism Australia. The event was introduced to the global LNG community at LNG2026 in Doha.
Queensland Minister for Tourism Andrew Powell MP said the event is expected to inject up to AUD$19 million into the state economy and generate more than 16,800 visitor nights. “With thousands of people from more than 80 countries attending the event, this is another opportunity for Queensland to shine on the world stage,” he said.
Prof Andrew Garnett, Executive Chair of the Australian Gas Industry Trust, described Brisbane as “a global centre for energy innovation” and said the city sits at the heart of Queensland’s energy ecosystem. Australian Energy Producers Chief Executive Samantha McCulloch added that LNG2029 will highlight Australia’s role as “a trusted and reliable energy partner.”
For BCEC, managed by Legends Global, the win continues a long-standing relationship with the energy sector. General Manager Kym Guesdon said hosting LNG2029 reflects a shared commitment to advancing a sector critical to Australia’s energy transition, while showcasing Brisbane’s international event capabilities.
