Brisbane to Host Vaccine Technology Conference in 2025

20th November 2024

Brisbane will showcase its pioneering vaccine delivery advancements at the International Conference on Microneedles 2025 (ICM 2025), hosted at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC) from May 11-14, 2025.

This Australian-first event will highlight Queensland’s leadership in biomedical innovation, particularly in microarray patch technology.

The conference will bring together over 400 global experts, including immunologists, engineers, healthcare professionals, and scientists, to explore revolutionary microneedle innovations that promise cost-effective, efficient vaccine delivery.

Queensland-based biotech company Vaxxas, a key player in this field, will feature prominently with its high-density microarray patch (HD-MAP) technology, which eliminates the need for refrigeration and simplifies vaccine distribution.

The event was secured through a partnership between The University of Queensland (UQ), BCEC, Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ), and the Brisbane Economic Development Authority (BEDA).

BCEC General Manager Kym Guesdon said: “BCEC plays a leadership role in partnering with our local scientific and research communities to showcase Queensland’s world-leading expertise in the critical sectors of biomedical, immunology and vaccine development. Conferences are a key vehicle for the transfer of knowledge and international collaboration between some of the world’s greatest thinkers and doers, which can be life changing for our communities.”

The conference aligns with Queensland’s Biomedical 10-Year Roadmap, reinforcing the state’s commitment to expanding its biomedical sector through initiatives like the $3.34 billion Queensland Jobs Fund.
